Setting up State Street accounts

Last updated: June 15, 2026

Each Primary holding maps to a bank account in Xero, which is populated either by streaming bank data in directly, or by manually importing an activity statement from the Primary platform. For State Street accounts, you'll need to manually import activity statements to populate transactions on the account.

Setting up State Street accounts

  1. Create the bank account: Navigate to Accounting > Bank accounts > Add Bank Account, named to match the holding (i.e. "State Street Australian Cash Trust")

  2. Import the activity statement: Manage Account > Import a Statement, upload the holding's CSV, and map the columns. Each Primary holding has a separate activity statement to upload

  3. Reconcile: import transactions code interest to income, transfers between the relevant accounts, and so on.

Details for reporting on State Street accounts

Both State Street holdings set up the same way as your other accounts (add a bank account, import the activity statement, reconcile). The one thing to know is on the Floating Rate Fund.

State Street Australian Cash Trust. The unit price is stable, so your return is simply the yield paid to the holding. Set it up like any other account and reconcile the distribution to interest income.

State Street Floating Rate Fund. Set this up the same way. The activity statement records the yield (reinvested into additional units) and any redemptions, so the cash side of the holding comes through as normal.

Coming soon: growth reporting for the Floating Rate Fund. Unlike the Cash Trust, the Floating Rate Fund's unit price moves, so part of your return is the change in unit value, which we call growth, on top of the yield. The activity statement today captures the yield and your cash movements, but not that unit-price growth, so the holding's value in Xero does not yet include unrealised gains or losses. We are building growth reporting so the fund carries at its full market value and month-end reconciles cleanly. We will let you know when it is available, and in the meantime, if you need to reflect the unit-price movement in your accounts now, get in touch and we can help.
