Term deposits: maturity, rollover and reinvestment
Last updated: September 29, 2026
Opening a term deposit
Click Browse products and scroll to Term deposits. The table shows the best available rate for each term from ANZ, NAB, Macquarie, Judo and Rabobank. Terms run from 30 to 360 days depending on the provider. The minimum is $3,000,000. Click a rate, choose the business entity and the account to fund it from, confirm you are a wholesale investor, and click Open account. Primary Operations books the deposit with the provider and confirms the final rate with you. The first deposit with a new provider takes about a week to set up. Later deposits with the same provider open the same day.
While it is running
The account page shows the start date, maturity date, a progress bar, the fixed rate, and the face value. Interest is simple interest and is paid at maturity. The Performance tab shows the interest accrued each month. Term deposits show a lock on the Withdraw and Rebalance screens because they cannot be drawn on before maturity.
Choosing what happens at maturity
On the account page, find Maturity instruction and click Change. You have three options:
Withdraw: the principal and interest are paid to an account you choose, usually your Macquarie CMA.
Rollover: the whole balance, including interest, goes into a new term deposit with the same provider.
Withdraw yield, rollover principal: the interest is paid to an account you choose and the original amount is reinvested.
For either rollover option, Primary Operations contacts you before maturity to confirm the new term and rate. You can change the instruction any time before maturity. Set it early. If no instruction is set, Primary Operations will contact you before the maturity date to ask.
After maturity
Funds from a withdrawal arrive 1 to 2 business days after the maturity date. A rolled over deposit appears as a new account with its own start and maturity dates, and the old one shows as matured on your next monthly statement.
Breaking a term deposit early
Term deposits are meant to be held to maturity. If you need the money early, contact support@primary.tech. Each provider has its own notice period and interest adjustment for early withdrawal. We will confirm the provider's terms with you before anything is done.
